Kia Ora from the Harakeke Whanau

Kia Ora,Talofa, Hello!

The concept of a Whanau team is like that of a family. The team of younger and older children come together as a ‘family’ for certain events and like a family, older children are expected to be buddies and support younger members.

 ‘Well Being’

We have a school-wide focus of ‘Well-Being’ or the concept for Maori of Hauora - the physical, mental and emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of health. It comprises taha tinana, taha hinengaro, taha whanau, and taha wairua.

School Day   We look forward to seeing students in classes after the gates open at 8:15 a.m. During this time they can prepare for the beginning of the school day, which begins promptly at 8:50 a.m.

If your child is absent please ring the School Office 8336081 or text 021 236 0408 in the morning before 9:30am. When your child returns to school please provide a note explaining their absence.

Healthy Eating  To promote healthy eating, our students are encouraged to make healthy food choices and are given an extra chance to eat fruit only during ‘brain-break’ at about 10.  Other than the free school milk, our school is a ‘WATER ONLY school - we ask that you send drink bottles of WATER ONLY to school with your child.

Please bring suitable running shoes, spare clothes if your child wants to play on the field (no long pants worn when playing on the field) and remember to NAME ALL CLOTHES, especially JACKETS.

Thank you for your support and please remember we are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Kia Ora, Fa’afetai Lava and Thank You
